ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA?  ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Essential ACTA Resources

Wikipedia Blackout: Urge Wikipedia To Protest Censorship
Quick request: Wikipedia is considering going dark to protest SOPA and PIPA, the Internet censorship bills.

It'd be huge news, jar rank-and-file Internet users out of complacency, and serve as a turning point in the effort to beat these bills.

Several sites are considering going dark next week -- Reddit's already pledged to do so, but to have the impact it'll take to kill SOPA and PIPA, we need much broader support. A blackout by Wikipedia could be what finally kills these bills.

Will sign you on at right to urge Wikipedia to go on strike to protest censorship? (You'll also generate an email to your lawmakers, with the language at right.)
PETITION TO WIKIPEDIA: We encourage Wikipedia to "go dark" to proest the Internet censorship bills pending before Congress. Millions of Americans would take notice, and it could be what finally turns the corner in the fight against SOPA and PIPA.
Please sign at right to urge Wikipedia to go dark, and to generate an anti-SOPA/PIPA letter to your lawmakers.

(no subject)

This was on Holiday_wishes and I love the idea so much that I'm going to do it, and I just wanted to pass it on. Operation Beautiful is a site that tries to end negative talk. The goal is to leave in random places just notes saying "you're beautiful" or whatever you wanna write. Write what comes to your heart and put it up where people can see! I'll write notes, keep them in my car for where ever I happen to be going.

Let's end all of the negative talk out there!

Because if reality it's getting stupid, everyone talking bad about others. Is it really that hard to just say one nice thing a day.

I've been a victim of rumors and bullying because of my weight (being too thin, too fat) because of my teeth when they were crooked, because of my speech problems, because I can be slow at understanding something, because I wasn't strong enough to do the same PE as others, of how shy I am, believe me the list can go on I was picked on for everything. It's a vicious thing that makes you never want to trust others, how can you trust people who act like friends to you then laugh at you when you walk away.

Let's end it. I know that it's hard to not join in and you may feel weird saying "stop saying that." But if nothing else at least walk away from such talk, if there are no other ears to listen to it then it cannot continue! That's what I do at work because I may not feel comfortable enough to tell my bosses to stop spreading rumors so I either change the subject and ask a question related to work or I walk away.

I'm going to start writing notes now! :D

Free ways to help out on the internet!

I know I've been complaining a lot lately so it's time for something different. Sites on the internet where you can help others without having to do anything more then click a link. And if you know of more then just poke me in a comment and I'll add it to my daily list!

~It's a very nice one and I will make sure to come everyday! All you have to do is answer the random trivia question, right or wrong 10 pieces of free kibble goes to shelter animals. You can do it for dogs and cats. And really it was a beautiful idea. Eventhough none of the food goes to the Humane Society of Southern Tucson, I still support this just because it helps so many others!

~The Hunger Site! I'm not going to put up for each one, just go along the top. LOL

~Free Rice I usually play for an hour a day here. Or I mean to and usually stay longer just because it's so addicting. And in case you're wondering how much rice it takes to feed one person a meal- about 400 grams of rice per person, per day...There are about 48 grains of rice in a gram. If you aren't math loving that's 19200 grains if I did it all right.
